Plaza Rehabilitation
New York, NY
A failing waterproofing
system at this 25,000-square-foot plaza resulted in water infiltration to
occupied space below, prompting a full rehabilitative effort. As lead architect,
Hoffmann Architects guided the design and site architects to coordinate the
technical requirements of creating a watertight plaza design with aesthetic and
site considerations. Hoffmann Architects' plan called for complete removal and
replacement of the existing plaza overburden and waterproofing down to the
structural deck. As part of the rehabilitation, the plaza's lighting, layout and
amenities were fully redone, including the design and construction of new retail
space. The rehabilitative work also corrected deficiencies in the plaza's
existing architectural, mechanical, and electrical components. |
