Rehabilitation
Brooklyn, NY
Hoffmann Architects provided
comprehensive architectural design through construction contract administration
services to rehabilitate this 10-story, 300,000-square-foot parking garage,
which has three levels below grade and seven above. The garage was initially
designed with one-way slabs employing pan and joist construction, but was
actually constructed in 1965 using waffle slab pans to form the deck
construction. The structural system is a cast-in-place reinforced concrete
moment frame consisting of spread footings, columns, walls, girders and ribbed
slab. Rehabilitation work corrected problems at beams and columns, provided for
a structural overlay of the floor slabs and upgraded the existing mechanical,
electrical and lighting systems. |
