Restoration Master Plan and
Building Envelope Restoration

To manage the ongoing
maintenance and multi-faceted rehabilitation of this historic, 19-building,
22-acre urban complex, Hoffmann Architects developed an award-winning master
plan. The firm’s plan helped Rockefeller Center Management Corporation meet
tenant needs and comply with strict city preservation agency requirements for
this National Historic Landmark, which dates back to 1931. Work included façade
and curtain wall restoration, roof replacements and waterproofing. The firm has
provided rehabilitative design through construction administration services for
many of these restoration efforts, including: roof restoration for 30
Rockefeller Plaza, 50 Rockefeller Plaza, 70 Rockefeller Plaza, Radio City Music
Hall, Time-Life Building, and the Simon & Schuster Building; and façade
restoration for the Exxon Building, GE (RCA) Building, 30 Rockefeller Plaza,
International Building, Ten Rockefeller Plaza, Radio City Music Hall and the
Simon & Schuster Building.
Other work at
Rockefeller Center includes restoration of the carved limestone panels that
flank the entrances to the GE (RCA) Building and rehabilitation of the
world-famous plaza and skating rink in front of the building.Other
