The Bank of New York
Façade and Roof Rehabilitation
New York, NY
Faced with inevitable major
restoration, The Bank of New York commissioned Hoffmann Architects to conduct an
exterior condition survey. The 52-story limestone-clad building, originally
constructed in 1932, was plagued with numerous problems at its façades and
roofs. Hoffmann Architects developed a five-year, phased restoration program
that included repointing stone joints; patching spalled limestone; resetting and
re-anchoring limestone copings and displaced limestone panels; replacing cracked
limestone panels; replacing or restoring the original steel-framed windows; and
cleaning the limestone and granite façade. The roof rehabilitation called for
installation of a new rubberized asphalt roof and replacement of skylight
sidewalls and roof drains. |
